Article:
Are you unwittingly sabotaging your prosperity?
-
how we limit what we think possible for ourselves
"It is not more difficult to create a castle than a button.
Most of you have more buttons than castles, however, because they’re
easier to expect."
Abraham Hicks
How
often do people settle for mediocrity because they believe they're
not capable of having what they might really dream of? Or they
think they're not prepared to dedicate the amount of effort required
to achieve their dreams. Or they just don't believe it's possible
for them, where they are now, to have or be something that seems
very far removed from them at the moment.
This all works on the assumption that you have to do all the work,
you have to orchestrate every movement, and for many people that
feels too overwhelming, too difficult and so they lower their
expectations of life. I have lots of post-it notes around my study
which say "I don't have to do it all" and "Surrender
to the effortless magic" to remind me that when I am fully
allowing myself to trust in the Attraction Process, amazing occurrences
do happen for me, and I see them happening for clients too.
I'd like to share a couple of true stories that illustrate what
can happen. Imagine you wanted to drive an expensive car, such
as a BMW 7 series, which for non-car enthusiasts is a very expensive
'executive motor', does 15 mpg, and costs from $90.000 (£45000)
plus new. Beyond your reach? (Assumption - People like me don't
drive expensive cars) Or maybe you'd like one and can afford one
but are not prepared to spend that amount of money on it. (Assumption
- It's bound to cost a lot of money)
Here are the true stories:
Story no 1. At my regular networking meeting, the presentation
was given by a guy from a car leasing company and at the end,
he presented the customary raffle prize for the week. The winner
was a young man employed by a printer's, and the prize? The use
of a BMW 7 series for 3 days with unlimited mileage!
Story no 2 - A young woman was looking for a new car in the second
hand section of my local paper, and spotted an ad for a BMW for
£100 (about $200). She rang up and arranged to view, expecting
it to be a pretty clapped out old one for that sort of money.
Imagine her consternation when she saw it was a nearly new BMW
7 series. When she checked the £100 price with the woman
who was selling it, she assured her that it was correct - her
husband was divorcing her and had told her to sell his car, and
she could have half the proceeds, so she was selling it for £100
just to spite him!!
My stories illustrate that the impossible does happen, in the
strangest of ways that you couldn't possibly arrange. So why don't
you let go of thinking it has to be you who decides what is possible
or not, and to start to expect the impossible?
Checkpoint:
If you really trusted that using the Attraction Process would
bring you whatever you really, really wanted but that you can't
dicate the how, what would you want?
Where are your expectations lower than they could be?
